West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). The board was established in 1962 primarily to conduct Common Entrance Examinations for Undergraduate Level Engineering Courses in West Bengal.
The Common Entrance Examination will be conducted for admissions to professional undergraduate and post graduate level courses offered in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Government Colleges as well as Self Financing Engineering & Technological Institutes in the State of West Bengal.
Candidates are offered the opportunity to seek admissions to various UG and PG level courses in West Bengal by submitting WBJEE application forms and completing the admissions through e–Counselling.
As per the official WBJEEB website, the application process for WBJEE 2018 will tentatively begin frm the 1st week of January, 2018. The WBJEE 2018 exam will be held on April 22, 2018.
WBJEE 2017 was conducted on April 23, 2017 to offer admissions to UG level engineering & technology, pharmacy as well as architecture courses in Universities, Government Colleges along with Self Financed Institutes of West Bengal.
ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates are required to follow WBJEE 2018 eligibility criteria strictly in order to successfully apply for this entrance exam. The eligibility criteria for the exam is as follows:
Citizenship
Candidate applying for the exam must be an Indian citizen.
Age Limit
- Candidates who will appear for WBJEE exam to gain admission in Engineering / Technology (other than Marine Engineering), Pharmacy and Architecture programme have to be at least 17 years of age as on December 31, 2018. There is no upper age limit for WBJEE 2018. A candidate born on or after January 1, 2000 is not eligible to appear in the WBJEE-2018.
- Candidates who appear for the exam to gain admission in Marine Engineering course have to at least be 17 years of age or above as on December 31, 2018 and must not be above 25 years of age as on December 31, 2018 as per guidelines of appropriate authority.
General requirements:
For appearing in both Paper 1 and 2:
- Candidate must have passed the Qualifying Examination i.e. the ‘10+2’ examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects as stated above in regular class mode
- Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above three subjects taken together
- Must have passed English in the ‘10+2’ examination with at least 30% marks
- The Board of the said Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or State Government concerned
For appearing in both Paper 2:
- Candidate must have passed ‘10+2’ examination with Physics and Chemistry along with any one of Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects as stated above in regular class mode
- Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above three subjects taken together
- Must have passed English in the ‘10+2’ examination with at least 30% marks
- The Board of the said Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or State Government concerned.
